An effective defense and/or appeal can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. Community groups frequently set up defense funds to raise money for the wrongfully convicted. Our organization helps with promoting awareness for these individual’s cases. JIWC is currently seeking 501 (c)(3) status as described in Section 501(c)(3) of the federal tax code. The IRS does not grant 501(c)(3) status to groups established to help a specific individual. JIWC is an educational organization that is committed to helping citizens who are wrongfully convicted and are still incarcerated. If you make a donation to JIWC, you may leave it to us to distribute the money to our current projects as we see fit or you may suggest that the funds be used to help a certain individual project of ours that our Board has approved for sponsorship but there is no guarantee that the money will be funded to that particular project.
