Our Services

JIWC is constrained by the purpose in our by-laws:

PurposeTo serve and educate the public about the criminal justice system in Illinois and to aid and assist persons who have been wrongfully convicted of crimes in the State of Illinois in achieving a just outcome.

JIWC is also constrained by our resources.  We are a very young organization and have little money.  We cannot provide legal representation but we may be able to provide you with resources and suggestions to direct you towards someone who can help with your case.

We are currently seeking 501(c)(3) status from the IRS for charitable, scientific, educational, or literary purposes, as defined under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954 or any equivalent law, including but not limited to, the making of grants to organizations that are exempt under said Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3).  Donations restricted to a specific individual are not tax deductible.

Sponsorship must be approved by a vote of our Board of Directors.  If we approve sponsorship, we will add a page to our website containing information about your case and/or a link to your website.   We will also provide information about your case to the public at educational events that we will sponsor in the future.  We provide links to websites of some cases we do not sponsor.
